Ardelle Hynes
Ardelle is the smiling voice you'll hear at the other end of the phone and co-owner of the business. Originally from Nova Scotia, Ardelle is an avid cyclist who has toured throughout the Maritimes, the U.S., Mexico, and Europe, and in 1998 completed a solo trip across Canada. Now in her seventh year at the head office of Outside Expeditions, she splits her home between Revelstoke, B.C, and Rustico, PEI. When not doing ten things at once in the office, Ardelle can be found ski touring in the Canadian Selkirks, racing her bicycle, running, kiteboarding, mountain biking, hiking or climbing.
Tim Nicholls
Is it nine years now? Time flies! Tim is co-owner of the company and in addition to keeping our tours running smoothly, Tim maintains all our kayaks and bicycles to keep them in perfect working order. Tim's extensive travels in the last few years have included a winter of paddling in Vietnam, five months' cycle touring in Australia and New Zealand, and a season teaching English in Costa Rica and Guatamala. Be sure to ask him what he does in the winters if he's your guide.
Tell him he needs a haircut.
Alan Stanley
Alan has just done a 180 career shift from blacksmith to systems analyst, and is also is a keen paddler who has built several beautiful wooden boats. While justly famous for his paddling, Alan is also an excellent cook and an invite for dinner is never to be missed. Our head instructor, you will most likely see Alan if you take one of our courses or clinics. Alan's goal is to become a Level Two instructor by the end of the summer.
Jesse Sharratt
Joining us again for his second season, Jesse will spend his summer in Brudenell with Kevin, where the two of them will try and get along. :) Jesse is in his third year of political science study at Dal in Halifax, speaks fluent French, and is the son of a legendary Island entertainer. It's too bad he's vertically challenged. Do they make boats big enough for 6'4"?
Sean Molloy
Back for his 3rd summer at Brudenell, Sean is an Islander who came back after many years in Southern Ontario. Since then, he's completed his English degree at UPEI, and has gone on to a Master's in Folklore at Memorial. In between, Sean has found time to hike the East Coast Trail, circumnavigate PEI by sea kayak, and travel with Capt. Bartlett's schooner on a historical tour of Newfoundland. We are very glad to have Sean back at Outside Expeditions!
Avery Arsenault
Avery will officially join us part-time in Brudenell, after having helped us out of many a staffing pinch last year! An avid paddler, Avery has raced with the PEI kayak team and has just graduated high school.
Ryan Taylor
Former pro road bike racer Ryan Taylor has decided his upper body needs some work over the summer, so has joined us again for the 2010 paddling season from our North Rustico location. Besides leading kayak tours, Ryan keeps our fleet of rental bikes in top condition. He's considering a journalism degree this coming fall. Ask to see Ryan's tan lines, or maybe just what his favourite colour is.
Adam Bowman
Adam learned how to paddle yesterday, so be patient with him if he has trouble keeping up. When he's not paddling, you'll find him out kiteboarding, mountain biking or longboarding. Formerly employed in the aerospace sector, Adam's currently working full-time at our North Rustico location, saving up to go sailing in some exotic tropical location before winter comes.
Matt Kenny
Matt joins us again! First employed at Outside Expedition at age 18 and for four years thereafter, Matt has done all sorts of things since: worked out in the oilpatch, run his own construction company, installed vinyl siding, recycled used building materials, and is now ready for a summer back on the water. He's finishing up his new house in Orwell with his wife, Joelene, and hopes to get a few of you out windsurfing this summer.
